Re: Mini Keg problem........

as per previous post.... was it over full?? the Co2 goes in via the centre post from the top of the tube so if holes were covered it would slosh the beer about... perhaps?? just a thought.

but then you said the first couple were fine... mmm

Re: First brew in new conical - infection !!

When I clean my kegs I take the posts off and poppets out along with the tubes to make sure it's all clean.

Not sure how old the kegs are so get a torch in there and see if there's any 'beerstone' in there which could house bacteria.

Best of luck in your future brews.... I know how you feel

Re: 1st time gelatin... didn't work

The beer in the pic above was chilled down to 2c in a secondary, then gelatin added. it was left out the fridge then for 2 days while settling prior to kegging. Keg then was in the fridge maturing for a week again at 2c. it has now been out the fridge at room temp for over a week. First pint was lik...

1st time gelatin... didn't work

For some reason I just cannot get clear beer and it's even worse when its been in the fridge, the chill haze is murkier than the canal. So thought I would try the gelatin route. Mixed as described on the Brupaks instructions and poured it into the secondary. Left it a few days and kegged, mmm still ...

Re: Regulator leakage...what is normal?

Mine leaked too and couldn't find the culprit so bought non return valves... they stop liquid coming back up the lines too or so it says in the blurb.

Re: water treatment for cider?

thought at least to use the water filter.... so just tested the PH of the water after after running through the Brita and it's dropped from 7.0ph out the tap down to 4.7ph post Brita.

for all you water chemists ...is that too low?

Re: water treatment for cider?

Would it at least be best to boil it first to drive off chlorine etc..??

I've got a Pear Cider kit to do and they're not cheap to mess up!

Re: Bacbrewing Springer Filter

I've just bought one... from BrewUK. At todays exchange rate it's £10 cheaper than from Bac direct plus got free post as I got a couple of filters too so I don't keep sticking my finger anymore!! It's turned out to be a bargain!!! The reviews are very promising so looking forward to letting the hops...

Re: Kegging and low consumption

Why not just fit the tap direct to the keg... this is what I do. If you have your pressure and temperature right you'll get no foaming. Disconnect the tap when not in use and rinse ready for the next time. I've got 5 kegs to choose from so made sense to me to go this way.

Re: Beersmith question

Thanks for the reply's.

I used to chill immediately and found the flameout hops did little to aroma and flavour so have tried a 30min steep adding them at around 75-80c so will see how it works.

Re: Would you say my additions are right...

Thanks again... My water is from a report from a sample I sent to Wallybrew recently. TBH it wasn't that far off my supplier report so good to know.

Water chemistry is all double dutch to me, I don't seem to understand much now, something to do with age

Beersmith question

If I want to add hops at the end to steep for 30mins I add them in the copper @80c so theoretically they shouldn't emit their bitterness... or do they?? If I enter 30mins for the steep time on the hop addition in Beersmith it lists an IBU figure but if I add it as '0' mins it doesn't. Just wondered ...
