WA, did another TC recently. My local Sainsbury's is selling some cheap juice, only thing is it says no added sugar, or reduced sugar. These still ok to use?
Thanks

Re: how to add peaches ?
I have recently done a Fruit beer. I decided to get frozen fruits. But as far as I know, cut them into chunks, freeze them, add them frozen. Apparently the ph of the beer will be low enough for any ill effects. Alternatively pasteurise them and add them as a pulp. But will make the transfer messy. H...

SEarxh for David Heath on YouTube. He demonstrates how you can use the grain basket as a hop spider. I have tried this and worked a treat.

Re: Grainfather wort cooling question
I pretty much do that. Sometimes I have to adjust the cold water tap, but normally it is ok.

Re: Wen's Lunch (Patersbier) AG BIAB #8
That's odd. I don't use plastic bottles anymore, but have found the Crossmyloof carb drops to give me good results.
I will be batch priming today anyway, even though I don't always. I basically find that it sometimes extends my bottling day too much.

Re: Wen's Lunch (Patersbier) AG BIAB #8
Wolfen, I would have only bottle primed if I could have placed a carb drop in all. AFAIK you could have made your sugar solution and added it directly to the FV before bottling. Just make sure you have a sanitised paddle to give it a nice mix.

Re: Should a fruit beer sour?
Thanks guys.
Do I need to do anything special with the fv when cleaning it. I guess it isn’t an infection as it wasn’t reeking or anything else.
Thanks

Re: Should a fruit beer sour?
Wow, quick reply. To be honest I didn’t. I just chucked it in when I had a free bit of time. After an hour it seems to be less prominent and I am getting different flavours. Maybe I was too hasty...
I will give it another hour or so.
Thanks Mcmullan

Re: Should a fruit beer sour?
I didn’t do either of the things you suggest. It isn’t an unpleasant taste, just a bit sharp/sour. But more sour than anything else. I didn’t know if it was a possible side effect of the fruit. I think what I am trying to ask is, could the fruit do that? Or could it be an infection of a different ki...

Should a fruit beer sour?
Hi all.
Made a simple wheat beer three weeks ago. I used Krystalweisen yeast. Two weeks ago I added 2kg of frozen summer fruits which has a mix of A mix of Blackberries, Raspberries, Blackcurrants and Redcurrants.
It tastes sharp/sour. Should it/could it be a by product of the fruit?
Thanks

I am just starting to think about doing this. Do I need a conical flask and a stir plate when I want to make my starter.

Re: Fermentation fridge questions
Hi Redimpz, 1. I drilled on the side that the door hinges are located. I was informed that there would be a good chance that there would be no wires in ths place. Alternatively, google the model you have and see if you can find anything regarding the unit. 2. I use an inkbird. Really simple and dead...

Re: Super Fast Fermentation (slight panic)
Most go with what WA has suggested. Even if my brews ferment quickly they will always stay in the FV for 2 -3 weeks. Just because it has finished fermentation does not mean that the Yeast has finished cleaning up.

Re: Goblin's Glod - AG #9
Yea, I know what you mean. I dont drink cider all that often tbh, but will fancy some every now and again. I have the grainfather as a system (love it), a brew day normally takes about four and half hours (including cleaning the system), but find it difficult to do inside with the little one. About ...
