Water Treatment Kit
Just noticed there have been quite a few kits being put together by people for testing water and as I work in the water treatment game I thought I could add my input here. We do syringe based methods and if anyone needs more accurate or in depth testing I can get hold of reagents for the following: ...

Re: Who has the hardest water?
Got a cottage in Ireland and got acid peat on top of limestone. Total hardness was coming out over 600 ppm. Not sure about Calcium hardness as was doing it purely out of interest to see just how hard it was (it scales the kettles up the sides :D). Will have to do a full suite on it as do water treat...

Re: Bad Dog Two - 120L Brewery
I took the PTFE off and found the jet threads were non existent so hope the burner is OK. I think wrapping in a small bit of PTFE would be goos but not sure if the threads are gone on the burner how well they would stand up to the pressure of LPG and if they might just pop out or leak. With the bits...

Re: Bad Dog Two - 120L Brewery
Hi, Sounds good to me but I do need to check the burner threads as it seems most of the jets on mine are pushed in with PTFE and have no thread left on them. I am hopeful that the burner outlets still have thread to them as they are steel and the burners are brass so much softer. I would be looking ...

Re: Bad Dog Two - 120L Brewery
Don't forget that the exhaust gases will heat the system quite well and the insulation will keep it hot.. I think I have read that heating time would be around 40 mins for 100 L for the 20 burner model and these are rated at 100K BTU so you would want the 5K jets to my thinking. Not sure if you coul...

Re: Bad Dog Two - 120L Brewery
Haven't started cleaning them yet. I've taken one of the burner assemblies off and completely apart, but the pots themselves are going to wait for a decent weekend before I get the pressure washer out and have a real go at it. I've had the in-laws here all weekend, and have only just managed to squ...

Re: Bad Dog Two - 120L Brewery
These guys do some burners which look a lot like yours ADM http://www.bes.co.uk/ Page 15 for commercial burners. Hmmm. £32 for a set of LPG burners. The thermocouple is useful. Will the valve work with LPG? Seems they might be cheaper from other places as there is a little added on the rings so ma...

Re: Bad Dog Two - 120L Brewery
I'll probably completely redo the gas system on mine. Not sure how yet, but I'd like each burner to be controlled by a PID, a solenoid valve and some kind of auto ignition system. That would be nice if you could set it up. The solenoids are easy, visit http://www.solenoid.co.uk they do a full range...

Re: Bad Dog Two - 120L Brewery
Nice burners but might cost as much as buying from here with shipping. Also the ignition and other things mights fit. I might pop one of the assemblies into the place in Leicester once I get them and see what can be fully salvaged. A no flame gas cut off would be really useful as I imagine these thi...

Re: Bad Dog Two - 120L Brewery
Following this thread with interest as hoping to do something very similar having hopefully secured 3 of these for HLT, Mash and Boiler. The burner appear to be from these guys and they do a LPG version at £80 http://www.stockpotsrus.co.uk/ If you wanted to really up the ante you could go for the 3...

Re: Save some money on grain prices
We use FastwayCouriers at work and you don;t need an account. You buy a number of STICKERS priced at between £7.95 or £6.95 depending on number and they will pick up and drop off up to 30 kg. Only problem is they don't cover the entire country for collection but you can get them to drop off out of...
