Re: CO2 conditioning

So you reckon it could just be an ambient temp increase that due to the minimal head space (on a newly filled keg) is pushing back into the regulator? I would suggest that a non return on the gas line would be a good investment. I'm not sure exactly what happened (I know one keg was slightly overfi...

Re: Loads of Corny kegs going cheap

If I were closer, I’d be delighted to take one of the small kegs off your hands. If only you could ship one to me in Suffolk…

Best of luck selling!

Re: Syphons.

This talk of siphons reminds me of an occasion when I made a strong Belgian ale and siphoned using a length of tubing. I did the old fashioned “Suck the end of the hose” and the beer rushed through the hose into my mouth which - without even thinking what I was doing _ I spat into the bottling bucke...

Re: 5Lt kegs

You'd be better off with these bungs: https://darkrockbrewing.co.uk/product/spare-bung-for-5-litre-mini-keg/ . Shop around though, that was the first site that came up on the search. The ones in your picture look like the type that are nigh on impossible to remove once in. I have a few of those fro...

Re: 5Lt kegs

If you’re meaning the same types as you can buy commercial beer in, then I have used these before 9re-used commercial ones). Only use a small amount of priming sugar; c. 10g is plenty.

Re: Old Slope

It is a yeast I’d like to try, but brew schedule is full of other beers for several months, so little point in buying a pack of this yeast even if it were available ( I believe it is one of the seasonal releases).

Re: Bitter, not boring (Keep cask alive, ep. 6)

Hopefully the captions are better on the 2nd and subsequent episodes; they were truly terrible in the first one. Although, I did enjoy watching it. The problem there is on YouTube ~98% of the captions are auto-generated so they frequently get it wrong (it's probably an American algorithm getting co...

Re: Discontinued hop

You can grow your own First Gold - it’s known as Prima Donna if you want to buy a rhizome. Or ask someone who already has it growing to propagate one for you. I have this growing in my garden in Suffolk and it crops fairly well. If you would like a rhizome, I can have go at propagating one for you.

Sounds like you should just get a better mill.
That’s where my thinking is, but if I can “fix” it with a few £/$/€ on O rings then I’m tight enough to want to do that 🤣

Re: Grain Gorilla

Update in this thread. I cleaned the mill following the issue I’d had before and for several months it has performed without major issue, but the last couple of brews have seen the milling of 5Kg or so of grain taking 10s of minutes rather than minutes. I’m sufficiently pissed off that I think I mig...

Re: Crisps No. 19 Maris Otter

Don’t think we ever drew any worthwhile conclusions. So best of luck with your brew. I’ve also realised I never replied to @PeeBee’s question about whether my beer was overly astringent with 30% Amber malt. The answer was a resounding no. I brewed the beer primarily for a homebrew festival and it wa...
