Infection woes - sour/tart taste
Hello All, Having sour/tart taste in all grain brews after approx 1 week of conditioning, the beer is hazy and never clears. These are 60-70litre brews using stainless steel HLT, Mash Tun, Boiler and fermentation vessels. Fermented beer is stored in Corni kegs. We use a water pump/meter with plastic...

Wyeast 1469 Yorkshire - starter for 65L
Hello Everyone, This is the first time I'm using a liquid yeast, and would like create a starter from one Wyeast 1469 West Yorkshire Ale "smack-pack". The recipe is a Timothy Taylor Landlord clone for a 65 litre brew length, and 3 yeast packs would be £24 approx. I've read up on the Wyeast website a...

Re: summer lightning yeast
Is it still possible to buy Summer Lightning which is bottle conditioned in order to obtain the yeast?
I've only found bright beer in their bottles.

Wadworth 6X - yeast
Hello All, Would like to brew Wadworth 6X as close as possible to the original. I'm using a recipe from Real Ales for the Home Brewer, Marc Ollossen. However there is no mention of yeast to use. Looking around on forums, there seems to be a preference for White Labs; WLP002 English Ale. Has anyone t...

Re: Mash ph - AMS/CRS addition advice
The alkalinity from the water board report was reported as 220ppm. This was from December 2018. Therefore we added 93ml of AMS/CRS into 100 litres of tap water, then commenced heating to 76'C. We also tested the tap water using a Salifert kit for cross reference with the water report, this was after...

Mash ph - AMS/CRS addition advice
Hello Everyone, We're having problems with mash ph when brewing all grain bitters and IPA style beers. The last three brews had a mash ph of 4.2, using ph test strips. The test strips were checked with tap water for reference and came out at 7ph. We have added AMS/CRS as recommended by the Murphy's ...

Winter Royal Wethered / Castle Eden
Hello All, Our brewing collective "M3 Brewery" want to try an all grain Winter Royal from Wethered. We've looked at the Castle Eden recipe in "Real Ales for the Home Brewer" by Marc Ollossen, and are questioning the 2 hours mash time and 2 hours boil time. We've been brewing all grain recipes for fo...
