Co2 Tank and Refills - Nottingham / Derby
Hi, I've recently upgraded my homebrew kit to start using a Fermzilla, which I love. For convenience my dispense set up relies on a sodastream adapter. I'm finding now that I'm getting through gas quite quickly and am looking to upgrade to a Co2 tank. Ideally it would be good if it was smaller like ...

Re: Imperial Stout Fermentation
What yeast did you use to ferment with and how much of it? I do smaller batches than most - I have a 15l all in one. I should have made a note of how much it yielded - I think it was around 12l into the fermentor. I used 2 packets of dry yeast Safale S-04. Used an aeration paddle to mkae sure that ...

Re: Smaller Pressure Fermenters
Afternoon All. So far the smallest I've found in the modern PET fermenter is 27litres which is huge if I'm trying to get 12 litres into bottles. It would work but I'd prefer something a little over 1/2 that size, a half empty fermenter would make me nervous. If you know if there is something in the...

Re: Imperial Stout Fermentation
Hi Benchharp, How is it going with this brew? Did you manage the F.G you were looking for? Floyd Hey, no it stopped short, finished at around 7-8% I think i'd do a bit more research into the correct strain to use next time. Either way it turned out magnificent and incredibly drinkable. A happy shor...

They're the instructions. https://www.themaltmiller.co.uk/product/servomyces-yeast-nutrient/ Homebrew notes: Add by breaking open 1 capsule and pouring the supplement in 10 minutes prior to the end of the boil. OR, if your fermentation does not require a boil, open the capsule and pour in the supple...

Re: Imperial Stout Fermentation
Oh, and I’d not be so bothered about a cold crash. There’s no hop matter to cash out and you’ll probably just want to let this ferment as long as possible rather than rush the yeast out of suspension. Thank you very much - I've realised that I forgot to add a Yeast Nutrient during the boil which is...

Imperial Stout Fermentation
Hi, I usually do NEIPA's and am happy with my fermentation process on that. No need to comment on how NEIPA's are hoppy messes and not as hard to make as a brite beer, i like them, so i make them  :D My latest brew is a 9% imperial stout. For my NEIPA's i would usually do both a diacetyl rest ...

Re: New Large O Ring required? or just re-fitting?
Absolutely fine to remove wash and re-fit. i do it all the time and would not re-use without cleaning as beer can get slopped up under the seal. These are readily avilable off eBay. There are several types. Silicone is not worth the extra cost. Clena with warm soapy water and a nylon scrubby if nec...

Re: New Large O Ring required? or just re-fitting?
download (1).jpg You mean this o-ring? That's totally safe to remove and wash separately. Not sure if there's a recommendation not to. No need to be worried. Sent from my Pixel 3a using Tapatalk Yeah this is the one. That would put my mind at ease if it is removable. I'd honestly not even considere...

New Large O Ring required? or just re-fitting?
Hi, Fairly new to kegging. I've done 7 or 8 kegs now. Whilst cleaning the keg, basically a soak and rinse with vwp, i noticed that the o-ring on the lid had come loose. I can refit it ok, but am worried as to whether this is a sign that it needs replacing and that it won't be airtight? Any thoughts?...

Hazy Jane Recipe
Hi, I noticed in some older threads that a few mentioned that they had brewed the Hazy Jane recipe from DIY Dog. I'm interested in giving it a go to have a nice easy drinker on hand. Have you had good results trying it? Any thoughts on the 1g flavour hops at 10 mins? I heard a couple of varying opin...

Re: Maltodextrin / Maltodextrose
Hey, thanks for your research - by the sounds of it i'm going to have a pretty strong beer! i'll stick to the Malt Miller in future!

Maltodextrin / Maltodextrose
Hi, On the recommendation of a local brewery I purchased some "Maltodextrin" or "Maltodextrose" as it says on the packaging. I had all the grains and hops and needed it quickly I just went via Amazon rather than the Malt Miller. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08CL1CMNP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_tit...

Malternatives
Have an Amercian Recipe that i'm looking to do - i'm struggling to find a couple of the malts, wondering if soemone can confirm if my alternatives seem suitable or if they have a better suggestion. I tend to use Malt Miller for my grains. Malts 2 lbs (16%): White Wheat - Was thinking I could use Cri...

Re: Dry Hopping in the Keg
Once the keg is purged I briefly take off the lid and drop the hops in quickly. There’s not a lot of oxygen pick up in that time. If you’ve already filled the keg then you’ll need to turn off or disconnect the gas, pull the prv to depressurise it and then you can remove the lid. Do it quickly and t...
