Re: What's the point ?

I'll stick with conventional beer - tried and tested by countless people over centuries.

Re: Making a simple English Mild.

Cheers both of you. I usually ferment at around 20°C with Liberty (I can control fermenting temps) but Mash's thought of fermenting lower makes sense. All my brews using Liberty have always slightly under attenuated (I've even started setting my Brewfather settings to the lower end of 74%) so Bitter...

Re: Wards Best Bitter

Bet we’ll never be able to recreate that distinctive sulphur smell that it had. Was also a great laxative… :D Blimey I thought this was sarcastic. Appears to be fact. What other 'qualities' can be bestowed on commercial beer and still deemed saleable. Having drunk many many pints of it (my first ev...

Re: Abbeydale Moonshine ?

I did give my word that I wouldn't disclose details, although I was not specifically told I had to stick to that. But roughly:- Low Colour Maris Otter for OG of 1041 (don't know if any other malts are used but I'm going with just MO for a first shot). IBU 24. Seems right to me as it's not overpower...

Not got a recipe but drink it most days so very interested to see how your recipe comes along as I'd love to have a go at it.

Care to share the details?

Re: Two Yeasts For Old Perculier?

Just updating. Kicked the last of it a couple of weeks ago. Although only got OG 1.057 (aiming for 1.059) and FG was only 1.019 (1.015) even with all the coaxing I could it still turned out rather fantastic even though at a lower 5%abv. Taste, aroma and feel spot on with all the lovely flavours ther...

Re: Theakston old Peculier

Sorry to raise a very old thread but on my 6th AG I went for an old old beer I love and had a go at OP using GW's recipe. I went with MJ's M15 yeast knowing its issues finishing early and I only got down to 1.020 even after rousing, adding nutrients, raising temp to 23°c etc but couldn't get it down...

Re: False bottom for Grainfather

I have just received one of these and thought it a bit flimsy too but it weighs virtually the same a the one I got from Angel Homebrew (one of the legit new one's that didn't fit). Will be trialling it soon but it fits snugly in my GF30. Sent from my SM-G950F using Tapatalk Brewed last weekend and ...

I have a couple of tubs I fight to get the lids off too, drives me nuts. I'm thinking of on of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ABS-Plastic-Gallon-Bucket-Pail-Paint-Can-Lid-Opener-Opening-Tool-For-Home-Off-/402710532252?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0 Sent fro...

Two Yeasts For Old Perculier?

I'm planning GW's BYOBRA Old Perculier recipe next and was thinking of using Mangrove Jacks M15 Empire yeast for it. However many online reports suggest it doesn't attenuate very well so was thinking of pitching a packet of Wilko Gervin (I understand its Nottingham in reality) a couple of days after...
