AG35 – Aiiiiyyyye-PA
After growing two varieties of hops this year it was time to do a brew with them. I grew Northern Brewer and Cascade hops. ITo be honest I did not expect a great yield with this being their first year. In the end I had a crop of around 250g once dried. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-xy8uUDEKu4I/...

Drying out hops
I have a crop of Northern Brewer and Cascade growing in the back garden, the cones are starting to form which is good news. Before they are ready I want to make sure I can dry them out properly. Before I set off and build a hop rack with heater and fans for the very small first year yield would a fo...

Re: Stainless thermobox
I have the 100L boiler and the 60L thermopot for mashing with a false bottom. Only advice if making false bottom is to not make schoolboy error of putting drain hole in middle of pot but to do it close to edge so that when you want to get final run off you can tip it and drain the last dregs out. I ...

I did a brew outside when the window cleaner came. He must have spent 3 hours with me chatting about beer.

Re: plate heat exchanger
Sounds about right, when looking at it on its side the port on one side is in and the out is the opposite on the long side. I did a test run when I got mine and photoed it: https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-q2PM-MoDg24/T98PIVHAMQI/AAAAAAABP2g/0bs3tmh8EK8/s400/IMG_20120617_160319.jpg Yellow pipe is ...

Re: plate heat exchanger
I got one of those chillers from the German ebay site and I use the large connector for the mains water flow and the smaller connectors for the solar pumped wort flow. I've had no worries with a 50L batch but run it off in maybe 30 mins total. That is using the solar pump set to 6V and the kettle ta...
