Re: Brewferm mini kegging system any good?

IIRC, the geniune brewferm kegs are stainless steel so should last much better than reclaimed kegs. please let me know where you have the info about the kegs being stainless, all of the ones I have bought new from BrouwLand will at least show rust on the outside and they are magnetic which is not n...

Re: Brewferm mini kegging system any good?

I bought my first one of these ... more than five years ago I just love them, and so do my friends who all have their own taps. The kegs fit easily into a fridge and will stay fresh for ages, I probably have about forty kegs now ! I buy the gas cartridges from Germany (via EBay) in bulk - much bette...

Re: Electric elements vs gas

Has anyone worked out the cost difference between using electricity versus gas to boil with ? Is it relatively safe to use propane in a indoor environment ? Can't comment of costs for gas vs electric, but have been using a gas burner for the copper for more than five years - no problem with gas bur...

Re: Paella vs large cast iron burner?

Hi Kev, with my setup I use a cast iron burner with a 100ltr pot (batch size usually approx 65ltrs), ages ago I bought a sheet of aluminium to make a shroud but have yet to do it. I am very happy with it and have to turn it down during the boil so I don't get to much boil off just for your informati...

Re: New Boiler Needed - Gas or Electric???

For many years I used electric (25litre Burco) but as soon as my volumes increased then gas became more attractive. My current copper, which is 100ltr capacity, usually has about 65+ltrs at start of boil, the gas burner I use it has a output capacity of 9.2Kw so as I finish sparging its just about t...

Re: 70 Litre Stainless Boiler head room?

for very little extra cost you could buy a 100Ltr copper and never have any problems

my batch size is normally 65ltrs in my 100ltr copper so not a problem for space

Re: Brewferm Mini Kegs - opinions?

I've never gotten these kegs to work, they all leaked gas as soon as you put it in. And this was using two different setups (the starter set and a kegerator) so beware... I have had some initial problems with gas leaks but fixed them quite simply The first is a leak from the back of the valve where...

Re: Brewferm Mini Kegs - opinions?

Thought about using these myself, I've heard they're quite difficult to clean. Have you had any difficulties? I do know this is an ancient post hope you all get back to me soon Liam I wouldn't say that they are simple but its not that difficult, listed below is my routine - Rinse as soon as the keg...

Re: Burner for HLT???

For my 100ltr copper I use a gas propane burner which is supposed to give out 9.2Kw, I usually have a brew of about 65lts at the start and it boils fine.
hope that helps scale what you need

Hi Giles, attached pictures may help you visualise how to use heatsink for the SSR, it gets hottest when its switching a lot i.e. as it approaching target temperature http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac246/stu-le-brew/controlerinternals3.jpg http://i904.photobucket.com/albums/ac246/stu-le-brew/con...

Re: SESTOS pid problem

I have built a SESTOS D1S VR 220 to control my HLT and have twice now had it shut down on me completely. The first time I assumed something had blown and checked the fuse. Trying it a few days later it worked again. Now I have given it another try it has just done the same thing - lights off total ...
