Re: Brew2Bottle

I had an issue with an order where I ordered 2 tap shanks. I got sent two boxes so 8 in total, 6 too many.

The cost of the extras was about £120.

I sent the extras back as I thought it was the done thing.

I doesn't take too many of these types of mistakes to start eating in to profit.

Cheers

Re: Brewing tomorrow

Years ago I went from 60 to 45 with no discernable difference in the results. I've recently been able to start doing all-grain (BIAB) again and shortening my brewday where I can. Hi chap. Do you get any issues with extracting bitterness from the hops with a boil as short as that? No, I just increas...

Re: Cornelius keg for real ale

Hi Brewzone

How are you getting on with this kit?

Looks really interesting especially given that the price of CO2 may be even more expensive.

I'm also looking at hydroponic growing of chilli's next year and to give them more CO2 may increase the yield.

Re: Just how bad is fermenting at 32 degrees?

Kveik eh? Could be the answer but if it's temperature range is upwards of 30c, how would it perform at around 25c ambient? Any special treatment required? Cheers Tom I think it would perfrom O.K. The only additional treatment was to add some yeast nutrient in to the boil. I've got heat tape around ...

Re: Just how bad is fermenting at 32 degrees?

Not wanting to start another conversation about the pro's / con's of kveik yeast but recently had good experince using it but I think you have to choose your type of beer carefully. I used 1 year old slurry of VOSS KVEIK in a hoppy pale are. I fermented a couple of weeks ago and could only get it up...

Re: Bungs for Minikeg reuse

Hi

There's still a few commercial kegs that use reusable bungs, Ghost Ship & Goblin Gold are two I've got recently (before lockdown). Keg of beer plus keg plus reusable bungs. What's not to like!

Still I get it... annoying not to be fully reusable.

Re: Spent grain disposal - what do you do with it?

I used to put it on the composter but I got worried about rats. So now I just chuck it on the garden borders. Been doing it years, seems to condition the soil.

Re: Brite Tank Cooling with Maxi 110

And perhaps more saliently when in use (pumps on) the waterbath Will be recirculated and its during use that the temp will be more likely to drop significantly requiering more input. the water/ice bath is insulated and quite effectively too so most loss of cold will be through heat exchange in use ...

Re: Brite Tank Cooling with Maxi 110

Hi guys I'm interested in the option of switching the recirc. pump on / off while keeping the compressor running. I've got a maxi110 aswell. My only concern is the agitator side of things. I think the recirc and agitator are the same component meaning if you switch the pump on and off the agitator w...

Re: Keg coupler causing off flavours?

Kev Good shout. I'll drain the VWP (quite weak solution) today and give it a good rinse with water via my keg washer. All my other keg couplers a definitely stainless steel just this one that's a bit dodgy. Unfortunately the dodgy one is the only one with a PRV so I may still have to use it when rem...

Re: Keg coupler causing off flavours?

Keg The coupler is left in just for carbonation and the odd sampling which can be up to a week. It does look like it's copper with a chrome coating. As mentioned I get the same flavours with very different hop bills. I could be transferring an infection between the kegs I suppose? I've left the kegs...

Keg coupler causing off flavours?

Hi All Ive been having issues with my kegging recently. I'm trying to brew in the spring and keg into 50l Crusader kegs. When Summer comes around the plan was to rack from these in to corney kegs so to fit in a Keggerator. The last two batches have had to be thrown because of a strange flavour that ...

Re: Prebuilt hlt controller

I use the Pico non digital one. Works just fine, not complicated. It uses a bi-metal strip to turn the element on and off. It does however need to be mounted on the HLT as that is where the bi-metal strip gets its temp from to turn on and off. Had mine about 6 years with a lot of use. I've just had ...
