Transporting kegs and chilling kegs…

I am transporting 4 corny kegs and have 24 hours for them to settle. Will that be long enough ? Yeast used was white labs 002, us-o5 and a safale s-04. Two of them were cold crashed and gelatine before transferring to the kegs. Should I draw a pint off first before transporting? (re-gas up for good ...

Re: Cascade / Styrian Goldings (Bobek) for wedding ale.

Weeding? Garden party? lol Ha Ha! That’s the second time I have wrote that in a week now. :D Predicative text. Went with 50g flame out in the end. This has turned out really well so far. Fermented with us-05 at 19c. It has finished fermenting now but really cloudy with yeast floating on the top sti...

Cascade / Styrian Goldings (Bobek) for wedding ale.

Cascade / Styrian Goldings Bobek for wedding ale. Brewing the last beer for my weeding which will be 2nd reserve! I have some about 50g of Cascade pellets left and 100g of Bobek leaf. I already have a Cascade IPA ready. Done the Styrian Stunner Recipe in the past which came out well but would adding...

Re: Hop Spider support suggestions.

Loop some heavy duty elastic bands together and use it as a bucket handle on the hop spider. Turn the hop spider around so the metal bars are pointing inwards then lay the elastic band "handle" over the edge of the boiler and stretch it under the handle of your boiler. I hold my dairy thermometer i...

Plan a special day out for the wife, child and grandparent. Often planned two hours away so child (age dependent) gets sleep in car :-)

Re: Using my time more effectively...

Hi all, For the past 15 months I have struggled to brew due to the arrival of a new family member and an increase in my work load from my employer. Because of all this brewing has become less of a priority in comparison to my other hobbies (marathon running and video games - sacrilege, I know). So ...

Liquid Yeast 1 litre Starter Splitting.

Created a 1 litre Yeast Starter with wlp002 on Tuesday night. (100g of light DME boiled / cooler an then mixed with yeast) put on the DIY stir plate. The plan is to leave this 48 hours ? and then split 4 ways and put 3 in the fridge for future. Can I just mix / shake the starter and pour straight in...

Hop Spider support suggestions.

I have one of those metal hop spiders that hangs over the edge of the boiler like this one... http://www.jimsbeerkit.co.uk/forum/download/file.php?id=2530&mode=view It leaves a gap on my lid which lets lots of steam out the gap. Don't really want to drill more holes in boiler and the idea with it is...

Re: #1 brewday. Need some help.

Thanks. Not too much trub and went for a crash cool and into the corny keg last night. Going to force carb at some point and treat more of a test brew trying out the bottling gun I bought about 4 years ago! Forget to take pictures of the FG! Sample tasted pretty good. Such a relief to get the first ...

Re: PID twin and earth cable size.

Hi,
Sorry I never got back to this topic. Little spare time with 2 year old but loving it!
Thanks for the update and realise now that can wire the low voltage side lower side than the SSR / Heating element.
Just getting bits together for when I can dedicate some time towards it.
