Re: Brewmaster Top Tap Barrel

I would vent a small amount of pressure now and then keep an eye on it.Once you have drunk the contents, pour a kettle full of boiling water into the keg, leave it for 5-10 minutes then you should be able to manipulate the bottom of the barrel into its correct position!

As escapizm says, always make sure the valves are open when placing IC in the boiler as you may blow a connection apart!

Re: Beersmith, Promash, Beertools etc. whats best?

I use BeerTools - mostly because its free and easy to use  It's always been pretty accurate as well in terms of the way my finished beers have compared with the predicted data. I can't vouch for it's suitability for use by a commercial micro brewery, but this home brewer rates it =D> I use Bee...

Re: Cleaning plastic keg with 2 inch opening

I'm with Ditch on this one.I too use a microfibre cloth, which is poked through the hole along with about a litre of hot water and a few spoon fulls of soda crystals, replace the lid and give the barrel a good shake, rattle and roll until it is clean.

Re: Leaking Corny

Before filling the corny with beer, pour a kettle full of boiling water into the corny, put the lid on and then invert the keg for a few minutes. This softens the plastic on the poppets and helps them find a good seal.

Re: Fridge Abuse!

I've just won another fridge from Freecycle. Unfortunately its not big enough to accommodate my FV :( It has a freezer compartment that looks just like a flat bottomed U shaped piece of metal (quite thin). I tried to put in a couple of pictures but got this message Sorry, the board attachment quota...

Re: Reconditioning Old Bottles

Also, in between batches, what's the best practice for storing bottles etc. so they are in good nick and require the minimum of effort to prepare on bottling day? I'd recommend rinsing with water after their previous use to prevent the growth of mould and nasties on the beer that remains in the bot...
