Re: Canterbury Tales Camp Site Brewing

Beer Camp Brew No.2 is in the planning, Mrs D at https://www.abushelofhops.co.uk/shop/ released this years harvest of normal + heritage hops. I went with the Pride of Kent, (some proper) Bullion (lovely hop) & a packet of Janus. As the original Oatmeal brew last time around turned out well I will m...

Re: Spiny sparge arms - What are your thoughts?

Another idea for the VA, if you don't fancy making a metal version or simply want to try the idea out is to connect a piece of hose to the out let of the MT. get a Tee piece, this could even be a piece of copper tube or the like. Extend the hose up the outside of the MT and cut somewhere 6+" above t...

Re: Spiny sparge arms - What are your thoughts?

There should be an old thread on JBK somewhere in the distant past of a windscreen motor set up spinning a sparge arm which was then gravity fed with liquor, combine that with a VA and & you can treat your MT as a lady, long and slow, rather than a modern day GF hard and fast ;) Search Wallybrew's d...

Re: Canterbury Tales Camp Site Brewing

Might have to think about a Poly Pin shower which with the aid of an overhanging branch could just work. Small update on the beer, I was due to enter this one into a localised beerswap unfortunately after bottling enough bottles of another beer a couple of weeks ago. I rang into the aged old problem...

Re: Wanted Igloo Round Cooler

I no longer want this item. Thought I would mention it just in case Tomo sees the thread and thinks I still want one. BTW Tomo after a certain time us mere mortals cannot delete our threads or edit them so its down to admin or mods to delete them. I was hoping the the thread would have an auto delet...

Re: Braumeister fermenting lid

Only just seen this thread, haven't been that active on forums. Anyway for what's its worth I have a very similar lid for my Speedo 120l FV. When I say 1 I actually mean two :) The first lid I converted, although the speedo has an external water jacket I wanted to experiment with a cooling coil insi...

Re: Hand canning your beer

I like the idea of a can filler and seamer as a shared resource for a HBC...perhaps I'll suggest it to my LHBC. Just been reading through your post & that's a very good idea, share the cost between the lot of you, share the machine for those who want to use it and have fun. then go back to b...

Re: Canterbury Tales Camp Site Brewing

Small update. I plan to brew again on a campsite last week in October, weather permitting as I don't own either a hot tent or stove so it could be a cold experience. 1950's tent is all finished although I will take the new tent along as a back up or main sleeping tent. The brewing equipment is comin...

Re: Hand canning your beer

Hi Guys, Apologies in advance if I've posted in the wrong section so feel free to move. Just reaching out to the group to see what kind of advice the group has on hand canning their beer? Is it a realistic option for home brewers and what kind of equipment is recommended? Thanks in advance. Chris C...

Re: Campsite Mash Tun Build

 this FB is a very tight fit, I had to spray with water to get the thing to sit. Did the gasket move [-X nah of course not If I have time, I'll work on the Jacket over the weekend but with the hop harvest + brew day + bottle swap bottles + tent water proofing I think think I'll have enough time.

Re: Home grown hops 2021

I am going to brew this weekend with mine, its a little late but its the only time I have available to brew, should have enough for a 20l batch but wont know until I have picked them tomorrow. If the quantity is short I'll use a bittering hop at 60 & the rest will go in late. IMG_9775.JPG IMG_9778.J...

Re: Canterbury Tales Camp Site Brewing

Nearly finished, the what maybe the new old 70's brew tent, despite trying to whether the cloth naturally it still leaks so time to cheat and waterproof with chemicals. Also have my eye on a "proper" 1950 army tarps on ebay which should at least provide some protection against the weather + being he...
