Re: Just how bad is fermenting at 32 degrees?
Depends on the beer, but in most cases, it will be pretty nasty! If you’re making a Belgian style, you might get away with it, otherwise I think most likely this is drain fodder. [emoji3525] It's a pale ale from the brew dog diy list, I'm going to have to see it through but I don't have high hopes....

Re: Heaters for sheds
Yeah looks good I think this is the way forward, I'm going to have to aquire some wood to build a large box.
Can these be left on till they die like a light bulb or is it recommended to have 2 and alternate them?

Re: Heaters for sheds
Bodging is about as far as my DIY knowledge goes
Never heard of these tubular heaters before, are they fine attached to wood or Sat on wood, think this might be my best bet.
My wife's always moaning about buckets in the kitchen, the garage would be perfect for me but it's so damn cold in winter

Re: Heaters for sheds
Cheers for the responses, I was thinking heating the whole garage, I sometimes have 4 or 5 buckets on the go at once. I'm thinking it might not be such a brilliant idea for a heater to be on 24/7. Maybe build some sort of wooden box that fits over say a maximum of 6 fv's and put one of those tubular...

Heaters for sheds
I wasn't sure which sub-catagory to put this in. I'm thinking of doing all my fermenting in my garage outside, not a problem this time of year but autumn and winter I'm going to need to keep it warm. Does anyone else brew outside, if so what heaters do you use and how much in elecric do they cost to...

old hops in the freezer?
i have some hops in the freezer, been there for just over 2 years. Are they good to use still? they are in silver foil bags but they have been opened.
Been off brewing for a while but im wanting to get back into it, cost is a major issue so it would be helpful if i could use them
