Re: Cambridge JBK Members Meeting 16th December
Great to hear that you will be around Steve! My Xmas brew is also dark and confused. Good portion of crystal and aromatic malt, and a pinch of brown and choc. Lightly spiced with ginger, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon and coriander over fuggles and goldings (6+%, as requested). I've also got a brew where i...

Re: Bury St Edmunds Brewing Clubs?
You'd be more than welcome to come to the next Cambridge group meeting. Might be one in 2 or 3 weeks time. We normally meet in pubs that happen to be near the train station.

Beer Festivals: Brussels 2-4th Sept 2011 Bruges Feb 4-5th 2012 I would love to sample a Belgian fest, but equally happy to crawl........ If we were to go non beer fest, what about a split stay in Bruges and Ghent? Eurostar ticket would cover the connections to each (Ghent is en-route to Bruges from ...

Re: Cambridge JBK member Bishop's Brew-off
Those Woodfordes boys are fine brewers. They were selling off bottle packs dirt cheap (£1/bottle) when i visited last, so you may be gleefully clanking your way back to that boat if you fall on some luck. I cracked the seal on my BF last night. Bit too dry IMO (hit 1006), and not the best of cascad...

Re: St Austell's Tribute
Great to see this thread is so active still, lot of effort going into this clone. =D> I will be having another bash at this soon, so good to read the progressions. I was speaking to some other JBK members at a Cambridge meet recently and they had recently attended the St Austell brewery beer festiva...

Re: Cambridge JBK member Bishop's Brew-off
46L of BF!! Lucky man. I held my starter volume back because the wort i had stored for culturing was dark, and i didn't want to add too much colour. I decanted some liquid off when the yeast had settled out as well, for same reason. Would normally have done a 2L starter and kept some back for the ne...

Re: Cambridge JBK member Bishop's Brew-off
I am really looking forward to the tasting of these, and seeing how different they will end up! 100g Cascade flameout (includes 20g of my first Cascade home grown 2010 crop) Interesting little twist there with the homegrown! How do UK grown Cascades turn out smell wise etc? 2 x WLP 001 in a 4 litre ...

Re: Cambridge JBK member Bishop's Brew-off
Good luck with it Duncan, hope it's a good brewday! Those amounts are for 75% efficiency, which is roughly what i seem to get with Fawcetts MO. I sometimes get a bit more, but it's easy to dilute. I don't normally bother to dilute if it overshoots but i am aiming to stay true to the specifics we hav...
