Re: "No-Chill" Cubes

As for striping a brand new pump in a brand new (and expensive!) "one-pot" system ... pass! Now here again... we come down to good design or designer who doesn't know the first thing about the product usage. This is the BM pump design. All pipes accessible underneath. You spin (by hand) the brass r...

Sight-glasses on boilers is odd too. All that unboiled wort dumped in your fermenter. This way you do get the option to cycle the unboiled bit into the boiler.
I hear you. I also hate taps. Generally in the wrong place and filth traps and leaky drippy bollox.

Re: Ubidots data export

I think it's a setting. Recent upgrade may have changed defaults.

Re: "No-Chill" Cubes

I would think it's a magnetic pump impeller.
That is a bit odd piping to the sight glass.

Do you not strip the pump to clean it?
How can you be sure of anything else if the pump is wet or worse infected?

Re: "No-Chill" Cubes

Can you not squeeze here (press). Just to get last of the air out?

Re: "No-Chill" Cubes

But some ideas for "modifications" do emerge from the exercise: The filling wants some plumbing so when the cube is full you don't continue to pump hot wort over the floor Don't pour to fill point. Get close and then squeeze it. I have gotten most air out by having them tipped backwards (spout high...

Re: Wheat malt substitute

Quick update. Ran the same recipe, with farm gate milling wheat. Graded & ground, adding 500g In the fv, a lot more protein methinks. Foamy dirty head, and some large jelly babies. Tasting at bottling (day 7): Hmm. Not bad. Slightly more wheaty earth flavour like a raw beer. Yikes I hope that passes 😁

Just paid £25 collected. That'll do me.

Malted wheat is expensive though.

So have they bought the company or just the domain?

IMO it's a bit less bland, certainly a better price.
Clears quicker & still a good floccer.

Re: Wheat malt substitute

Yes indeed. Cloudy was not really what I was after.

Test is on. Crushed wheat same weight. Protein rest applied. Let's see. I am expecting a flavour boost.
