I to lost a run of beers and kept replacing bits of equipment. In the end the last thing to be replaced was a grain bag used in mashing, which was quite old. several brews later just started another new barrel, it`s very good.

I used Worthington White Shield for years untill the advent of liquid yeast. Always preformed well. Think it`s now brewed at a diffrent brewery now, so may be different.

My local h/b shop thinks challenger will be o.k. The fact they are mainly grown in Herefordshire which was hit by the floods I`m not sure. Hope they will be available I used them a lot.

What about one of Graham Wheelers, you have almost all the ingredients for Felinfoel`s Double Dragon. My favorite from his books. I HAVE BEEN USING WHITE LABS FOR A FEW YEARS, THEY SAY ON THE LABEL TO PITCH WITHOUT STARTER. PITCHING DIRECT I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. STARTS FERMENTING UNDER 12 HOURS.
