Re: Improper Job

Is the 'Proper Job' bottle yeast the same as the one used to ferment it? Thought I'd read somewhere it was a different yeast which they used just for bottle conditioning. But perhaps that's a different bottle conditioned beer I'm getting muddled with. Guy I've made some good Proper-ish Job beers by...

Re: BM BACBrewing yield increase disc (new version) help needed

Does the yield increase disc just let you mash more grain or does it improve efficiency or have any benefits with the usual 4 or 5kg of malt?

Re: just received water report

The report should say something like "AMS (CRS)- 8.75 ml per 25 lts of liquor to be used, all liquor to be treated"
So add together your mash volume, sparge volume and any boiler top up to get the total liquor and calculate the total AMS needed.

Re: Broken Shelf Cooler?

Guess we'll have to wait for PeeBee to drop by again to find out what's really happening! Thanks Guy. I wouldn't waste your time. "Richard080561" won't be interested in being helpful as I could figure out sometime ago: Capture.JPG The "list" has one other person in it. I guess you'll know who that ...

Re: Broken Shelf Cooler?

Doesn't explain what's wrong with the cooler, though! Guy Nothing's wrong with the cooler. It's just a very convoluted way of saying that @PeeBee misread the temperature display. Yes there is, PeeBee said; But there does remain a problem. The cooler just keeps running and it doesn't get cooler so n...

all I'm doing is ignoring a decimal point. 1.7°C rather than 17°C

Well for once my post boil reading is a bit higher, only by 4 points though.
1.048 even after a gallon boil off, I must be doing something wrong but I just can't figure it out lol.
At the beginning of the thread the problem was that the pre-boil gravity is always 1044

Re: HELP---Wort daker than I thought

Wow, mate, this is quite thorough, and I think this can be another reason, and quite reasonable~ Because i can recall that it was like there were several horses in my wort when I boiled it, the heat was quite strong~ and given there is a lot of sugar in it, that could be a bit burnt... Luckily, now...

Re: Conical fermenter advice

I am ready to purchase my brewing equipment and I am wanting some advice regarding conical fermenters versus standard fermenters. What are the pros and cons and are conical fermenters better. Pros: Conicals are useful for dumping the trub and yeast out. Cons: Their shape means they take up a lot of...

Re: Grain Mill advice

Has Rob got the three roller mill in stock? A year or two back when I decided to mill my own grain I was going to get the two roller version but got fed up with waiting for it to come in to stock so got the three roller one instead. I've been very pleased with it but have no experience of any other ...

Re: Liquid yeast viability.

Hello, Resurrecting this post as I have a very similar question. I have some liquid yeast manufactured in January (Imperial yeast, so theoretically they are double packs as they apparently start at 200 billion cells). I won't be able to brew with these until at least August maybe even September, so...
