Re: Counterflow build

That's awesome thank you. What size keg / FV did you use to wrap the hose / tube around? I am not sure if my 20 litre Sankey would be too small a diameter.

Sorry for all the questions!

Re: Counterflow build

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I see on some builds people wrapped copper wire around the tube to increase the turbulence and mixing. Is this something you considered? Happy to get thoughts on this from others too if it helps the discussion move forward! Cheers, Matt Sent from my SM-G955F usin...

Re: Counterflow build

Hi, Looking to have a go at this before my next brew day and checking a few details. Is there a particular reason for s/s tee and tails rather than copper / brass? Also if you could give some pointers on the actual hose you used or something similar and the cheapest or best source for the bits that ...

If using fresh peel i would up the quantity compared to the dry stuff. I would at least double it to start with and see how it goes.

Re: Baking Bread with malted Barley flour

Really old thread revival here Has anyone tried using good old plain pale malt in bread making? Not even whizzed up, just chucked in when the beepy addition noise goes off on the bread maker. Cheers. Tom Using crushed malt is great in bread. I have also used spent grain and harvested yeast from my ...

Re: What fridges are we using?

2 undercounter Hotpoint RLA fridges. 1 connected to an STC containing 2 Crusader kegs and the other running off a BrewPi controller as a fermentation chamber. Circa £40 each on eBay. Hi, I have a Hotpoint RLA36 as mentioned above. Fits 2 cornie or 20l Sankey kegs easily. I believe the RLA34 is the ...

Re: What fridges are we using?

Hi,

I have a Hotpoint RLA36 as mentioned above. Fits 2 cornie or 20l Sankey kegs easily. I believe the RLA34 is the same size. Bought mine nearly new on EBay for about £40.

I will replace my other fridges with the same model when they eventually die!

Yes indeed both my batches of Kölsch have dropped crystal clear and tasted / looked like the real thing too.

Re: Crossmyloof yeast

My second batch of Kölsch using CML yeast is currently lagering. Good attenuation and the character of both my efforts so far have been very close to style. I went to Cologne and tried as many different variants as possible so I knew what I was aiming for! :D Overall recommended, but it does take a ...

Re: Crossmyloof Brewery Dry Yeast

I am just finishing my keg of Patersbier brewed with this CML yeast and I am most impressed. Fermented quite warm and the yeast has really shone through. Re: Adding coffee to a porter

Hi, I used 100g of fresh ground coffee in a hop sock straight into the fermenter for a few days after primary fermentation had completed. 23 litre batch of stout from a kit, fairly early in my brewing adventures. Perfect (for me) coffee flavour and aroma, and I like a strong black coffee so not afra...

Re: Mangrove Jack Hop Spider

Hi, I use that hop spider with my Grainfather. It keeps most of the hop debris from pellets inside, but not all. I think that is a reasonable trade-off for good wort flow and (for me) a noticeable increase in hop utilisation compared with a finer one I used previously. Regards, Matt Sent from my SM-...
