Re: Canterbury Tales Camp Site Brewing
Not a brewing post as such, I haven't been able to get out camping since the New Year, fingers crossed I will do soon again. Thought in between brewing I would practice my bread making skills, with help from other members I'm getting there. 2loafs.jpgcutloaf.jpg Looks good. Have you used any brewin...

Re: Canterbury Tales Camp Site Brewing
With Storm Eunice about to take hold later tonight / early Friday morning, I thought it would be a good idea to try a new old tent out to see how it performs in the weather in the words of Rimmer "smoke me a kipper i'll be back for breakfast" or it could be one miserable night. If anyone spots a ten...

Re: First brew in over 4 years.
I wouldn't worry too much about the BBE dates, like most food stuff its only a before before date, good choice on getting some new yeast though.
Fingers crossed everything goes according to plan for you

Re: G30 compatible rolled plates now available
I wanted to see how easy it was to remove the lugs from the top plate so that it could be used as a bottom plate. The answer is very easy, 6mm sharp metal drill bit, carefully drill the plug welds and tap off with a screw driver. I did slightly catch the plate (only cosmetic) with the point of the d...

Re: G30 compatible rolled plates now available
I did a very short video of me trying to flex the plate, I reasonably strong and there isnt much flex at all in the plate, the weight of any grain should keep the thing in place. In an ideal world if using a bottom plate the lugs should be removed but I see no reason why it couldnt be used upside do...

Re: G30 compatible rolled plates now available
No reason to think the plate would become unstable its not like an Ali express or other FB piece of metal.

Re: Stainless Hop Spider
I have used Hop Spiders in the past in the hope that cleaning up at the end of a brew would be easier. No longer use a spider preferring to let a good mechanical hop filter in the bottom of the pot do the job. The amount of cleaning isnt much less using a spider than a traditional filter + the hops ...

Re: G30 compatible rolled plates now available
The lugs on the top plate are 35mm high with a width of 25mm, so with a approx over 50mm between the bottom of the MT & GF bottom it would be possible to use the TOP rolled plate upside down as a BOTTOM GF MT plate without any further alteration.

Re: G30 compatible rolled plates now available
The plates arrived safely today. First up I am surprised on the quality of the things, the quality IMHO is on par with BAC brewing equipment. The roll on the edge provides excellent rigidity and there is very very little flex. The diameter of the holes in the plate are the same as the original. The ...

Re: Steamy Brewery. What do you do about it?
For me I either use a domestic fan to push the air out of the room / towards a window. OR with the BM use the domed hood with an inline fan or with the GF an inline fan on tripod (hoist). My fan of choice being a Black Orchid Centri-flo fan.

Re: G30 compatible rolled plates now available
Guilty as charged, I'll post up a thread once I get the plates or maybe even a quick video of the things. Fingers crossed I might get a brew on this weekend. I really only want the bottom plate as this is the one I have the most trouble getting into the malt tube (yes, I use all the hacks to make li...
