Re: FastFerment or similar insulated jacket

I’d probably buy an aquarium chiller instead. They’re £250 and need a small pond pump, fluid reservoir and obviously the cooling coil for the fermenter, but they’re about as compact as it gets for a powerful cooling solution. Just a smidge outside my budget of as cheap as possible. I realise to coo...

Re: FastFerment or similar insulated jacket

Just had a quick read about the peltier fan things (or whatever their actually called), looks interesting. From what I read they sound ideal for a home build. If they're that good though, how come more products of a similar nature to the ferminator aren't available? Or have I missed something? I wil...

Re: FastFerment or similar insulated jacket

If space but not cash is the issue then a Ferminator is also a possible (expensive) option. It is like having a fridge you can shove away in your loft though, it can even be turned into a kegerator when needed. https://www.geterbrewed.com/ferminator-basic/ Not even got the space for one of them eve...

Re: FastFerment or similar insulated jacket

Whats going to be £50 for 1 brew a year....... just buy a couple of cheap Belgium blondes - which will also make you feel good about your own brew!! That's a very good point actually, although I can get the one in the link for about £36 delivered. Not from Brouland I might add. There's always the o...

Re: FastFerment or similar insulated jacket

I cannot answer on that particular jacket but I do remember a couple of people using some American version that you could also add cold/frozen water bottles to, in order to keep it cool in summer. IIRC their feedback on it was fairly positive. As far as I know, the fastferment bag is an American th...

FastFerment or similar insulated jacket

Hi all I sure a few members here have a FastFerment conical f/v but has anyone got the cooling jacket? I only ferment in a standard Ritchies 25 litre bucket. I'm thinking about getting set for the summer with an insulated bag thing. https://brouwland.com/en/other/10530-fastferment-insulated-jacket-f...

Re: Anyone made these?

Made the Razorback a few years ago, was very tasty. Was the first kit I'd done that really had hop flavour that stood out. Cant comment on the other kit though

Re: WineXpert Kit Question

To be fair, I'd consider winexpert as a good brand. It depends on how forgiving your palate is really? I go for any of the kits that don't need additional sugar, so for me anything in the £30-40 mark produces a drinkable red. Generally, the more you spend on a kit, the more pure grape juice you get....

Re: Coopers Bitter

@bigstig

Just to clarify.
You are mashing the torrified wheat along with some pale malt or at least something that will convert the starch to fermentables?
As JJSH suggested, mashing the wheat on its own will not be enough as it doesn't have the enzymes to do the conversion

Re: The Range MYO Red wine

Finally got this on last week. Smelled very nice when mixed and couldn't see the bottom of the f/v through the must like I could when I did a Carafe 21 that I did a few years back. That was just flavoured water with a slightly pink tint to it. I ended up chucking it as it really didn't taste of much...

Good price at Bigger Jugs, what looks like the exact same one is £14 at the Malt Miller
