Wadworths

Post by Nick » Mon Jul 19, 2021 3:11 pm

Hi,
Hoping for some info.
I have a box of unopened 6 bottles of Wadworths centenary ale (1885-1985)
& some further boxes of opened bottles.
Do these have any value & any ideas of value or where to sell.
Thanks,
Nick

Depending on the ABV there is a good chance that the yeast is still viable. I have revived several yeasts from old bottles.
The oldest is a Silver Jubilee Ale dated 1977 from Shepherd Neame. Some of these yeasts have been banked by Brewlab
and are available for purchase.

These kind of things regularly come up on eBay, the older ones are usually jubilee ales.
They often go for a few quid a bottle so don’t expect too much. As IPA has mentioned about recovering yeast, you may find some homebrewers interested for that very reason.

Nick,
They taste like a very strong sherry, no beer taste at all.
Don`t sell them, drink them and savour the strong alcohol hit! :D

Or, give them to me!

Hi Wadsworth and welcome. :)

Pity the vintage beer market wasn't like the vintage wine market!
