Tuckers Maltings Bulk Buy Cornwall/Devon

Good evening!

I took a visit to Tuckers Malting today as I was working abroad up in Devon. Spoke to some really enthusiastic guys about Malt and the Beers they had in the visitors centre. It's a shame they're so expensive. Not because I couldn't buy any but because of how much I spent.

Whilst there I spoke to Andy Hill the Maltings manager about a bulk buy and costs as everyone else seemed to do it but they didn't.

He said if I bought a number of sacks then he'd do it for (I think... I've emailed to confirm) £23 a sack. I didn't ask if that was including VAT but I assume it must be or else that's hardly any discount.

So I'm basically asking if any Cornish guys first and foremost would be interested. He said it'd be the same price for 25kg any of their malts. Secondly on my way back perhaps I could drop in to some foreigners houses on the way through.

The problem with all of this is I have no idea when I'm up in Newton Abbot again. I really just wanted to confirm that they did do a bulk discount if you bought enough so everyone would could benefit. Perhaps someone closer (perhaps Plymouth) could drive up and the next time anyone's up there then we could pick them up... or anyone else from Cornwall regularly go that way?

It works out cheaper than Crisp MO and without the delivery charge (that is not including if like today I was just passing through).

I will definitely be going to Tuckers in three weeks but I'm not sure if I can carry any malt as we're camping and the car will be pretty full.

The guy basically said if I bought four/five sacks of malt he'd give me a discount.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

I might be interested but that's a lot of effort on your part mate for not a huge amount of discount

It's not worth it for me to drive up and back just for the malt but if I'm working that way again it's good.

At least we now know they do a discount for four sacks and above so people in Devon can at least take a trip for themselves

I know that Skinners use Tuckers, as does the star inn at crowlas. So perhaps tuckers would tag your order onto one of theirs and deliver it at same time? I buy crisps malt from Worcester Hop Shop for £23 a sack, but p&p is £7 for upto 30kg. I usually buy 29.9kg of stuff to squeeze every last penny out
I'd be interested in a sack or 2 if the p&p was minimal.

It's true that this is borderline worth it at that price.

Same price as the Crisp sacks from maltmiller if your ordering anyway.

I live on the edge of Exetet at JCT31 of the M5 and would be well up for supporting this venture if the malt is tip top and price to me is around the £20 mark.

This is the problem. If it was down the road or if I was there anyway I'd pick some up. It's cheaper than Crisp MO at £23.

I'm there in two weeks but probably won't have room. If I do I'll pick up some extra maybe
