Roasted Wheat Malt

Post by Meatymc » Tue Aug 21, 2018 9:18 am

Dropped a senile wobbly and ordered 2KG of the above instead of Pale Wheat Malt - using it simply for head retention.

Got 25kg Maris and some Crystal at the same time as I wanted to do a good run of Pale's and Bitters.

Any ideas on using this up given the EBC is 950!! I'd like to try and shift this in as few a brews as possible and don't really want to have to start getting loads of other grains in for styles needing multiple grains.

Have been looking at Dunkelwiezen but even then it seems it's only added in small quantities. Then I'm wondering about a stout using 1kg + 4kg Maris but it's going to need some heavy balancing out - possible?

Sounds like a good excuse to brew a strong winter stout for bottles...can also use it for colour adjusting in small quantities. Otherwise just don't get tied to it, no point brewing a bunch of beers you don't like for the sake of a few quid worth of grain
