Craft maltsters

A bunch of craft maltsters have opened up here in the USA. Are there any in the U.K.?

Hmm - weird. The system seems to have lost my post, but the short version is - as with breweries, our normal maltsters are as crafty as the US craft ones. You don't get craftier than floor-malting eg Maris Otter, but we take it almost for granted. And even our big operators are doing crafty things, like Crisp bringing back Chevallier and Hana. There are a couple of new tiny maltsters, they seem to be going more for the distilling market as there's more margin there and TBH the regular maltsters give brewers all they could reasonably want.

By coincidence I came across this article after (not) posting my previous reply : https://www.goodbeerhunting.com/blog/20 ... etter-beer

Minch do a so called ‘craft malt’ reserved for small batch breweries. You can buy if for £21/sack.

Yep, and it's good stuff. I have 25kg sitting in the brew shed. It is good value.

Small batch independent maltsters that cater to craft brewers.
Google Mecca grade malting. Or Root shoot malting.

It’s my go to malt, such good value.

Although definitely not in the UK, wrong side of the border.
