I'm sure I had a 25kg sack a year or two ago - it seemed fine to me!

I use sacks of Muntons, no problems at all.

Good to hear the new local homebrew store stocks Muntons grains. I have never tried them before.

Warminster is the other that Faram supply.

You've saved me the trouble of asking them if their prices have gone up...they have, about £4 per 25kg

I've used Muntons but the beers are still in the corny maturing

The benefit of the Warminster is that it is floor malted instead of drum malted. Floor malting produces a much more consistent malt IME (I know you'd expect it to be the other way round).

Warminster are also happy to provide the malt analysis for the malt you buy (lot number on the bag), Muntons only provide 'average' numbers.

I'm not sure that either of the 'benefits' mentioned here are of particular importance to a homebrew length, but once you start putting 75Kg into a Mash tun its a whole new ball game :D
