Can anyone tell me what the hop 'Golden Tassles' is similar to? I have brought one to try but can't find any info on it?

Cheers

Never heard of it.

From a quick google it looks like a decorative plant as opposed to one you brew with.

I saw the subject line and had a vision of a semi-clad maiden and golden tassles upon her chest.

I'll get my coat...

This is what I found on hedging.co.uk:

GOLDEN TASSELS HOP (Humulus lupulus Golden Tassels).
New dwarf, bushy, female hop with exceptional golden foliage. Fragrant green spikes of flowers in July, followed by bronze hops, suitable for brewing, which can be harvested in September or left for their ornamental value. Rapid grower reaching 8-10ft (2.4-3m), but needs cutting down to the ground each winter. Sun or partial shade.

Guess I will have to wait and see then.

I love experiments!

Humulus lupulus Golden Tassels Plant Variety, Rights application No 2002/0947,registered name Diva. From East Malling Research.

Ideal for all ales and lagers. Excellant traditional aroma qualities, medium bittering potential.

I had one brought me last year and it had the above info label on it.
I hope its of some help.

Cheers Steve

Thanks for the info BB!

Alpha hops also sent me a Pioneer (because the mucked up the order) which I have just planted.

So from the Golden Tassles, Prima Donna and the Pioneer I hope I will get at least enough to invent something original!

Yes il second that, Ive just brewed 10gallons of ale with Poineer, I used them through and through, not bad alpha either at 8.5%. I tasted a slight lemon finish with them.

I used Marris Otter and Shredded Wheat in the mash.
