is there a formula or rough rule of thumb that can guesstimate how much alpha acid has been lost?
i store opened packets in plastic bags, in the freezer, trying to squeeze as much air as possible out of the bags before they're knotted.

There is a formula but it's complicated and also the rate of loss varies between varieties. Bottom line is temperature is the main problem with loss of alpha so freezer is best.
