sell buy dates

Just found a vacuum sealed pack of Mount hood. Sell buy date Jan. 2008. The pack is in tact I`ve no problem using them but will they still have the same alpha level. Doing a summer lightening this week end so I`m thinking of throwing maybe 40-50gms in at the end.

As late hops they will probably be better than fresh hops. A bit of oxidation, although it may decrease the alpha-acid a bit, actually improves the aroma.

Even so, with most hop varieties the alpha-acid decrease is not as bad as is often made out. Depends upon how they have been stored, of course

Back in the 90s when amarillo hops first came on the market only a few places had them so I bought a large amount. I kept them tightly wrapped and frozen and used the last of them nearly six years later. Properly stored most hops will stay good a long time.
I'm just here for the beer.
