Hi All
I'm going to be making a batch of summer lightning today, just treating my water, and have a quick hop question. The recipe in BYORA uses 46g of challenger is there any reason why I can't substitute half of this with some Northdown hops? I have about 20g of challenger left in a pack and don't want to open my new vacuum pack of it as I don't think I will be brewing again until the autumn so would rather keep it vacuum sealed and fresh until then.
Cheers
Michael
substituting northdown for challenger?
Re: substituting northdown for challenger?
IIRC that recipe uses them just for bittering? If so, yes sub away. They're pretty similar anyway.

blimey thats a quick response, cheers Steve. Just came back on the site to see if any tips on cleaning kettle elements and saw you had already replied.
Yes they are just for bittering so I assumed they would be OK but thought I should check.
