Hi all, what kind of figure does everyone on here use for their utilisation percentage?

I've heard figures ranging from 20%-40%

I use the H&G twin element boiler (switching off one element at "copper up") I did my last brew at 30% and I can't be sure if the end product is as bitter as I would like.

Is it a good idea to get a bottle of the commercial equivalent and do a taste test to compare bitterness levels?

Thanks
Kev

Once I have some spare Cash, I think I might got this route http://www.brewlab.co.uk/analysisandres ... #beer&wort and get Brewlab to analyse a sample so I can actually calibrate my copper for Hop Utilisation.

I let BeerSmith's Rager formula work out an estimate for me, and leave it at that. If it turns out too/less bitter just make appropriate adjustments next time, but it seems that most beer I've been making recently is fairly light on the hops, so it's probably not an issue just now.
