freezing

freezing

if i freeze my hops in order to keep them longer, do i have to defrost them before they go in the boiler or can i just put them in to boil from frozen.
any thoughts comments much appreciated

I throw mine straight in. By the time they have been weighed and unpacked they are pretty much back to their natural form anyway, as there is little moisture in them to start with.

+1, unless you get one of those compressed rectangular blocks of hops. Trying to hack off an ounce or two while they are still frozen is definitely risky to fingers...
