Fuggle Harvest

Post by quixoticgeek » Fri Sep 30, 2011 4:15 pm

While my brew was mashing this morning, I harvested 45oz of hops off the fuggle plant in my garden. I had planned on laying them out on news paper for a few days before filling the freezer, but it seems that the local free paper doesn't come through my door anymore (or my housemate has binned them all). So I don't have any paper. For now they are in an old pillow cast. Can anyone suggest a better way to dry the hops?

Thanks

J

Try drying them in smaller batches. I harvested some wild hops last week (about 8ozs) and put them in a roasting tin with a cooling rack. Lay some kitchen paper on the rack and leave them somewhere warm. They dried in 3 days.

Can't be arsed to keep changing this bit, so, drinking some beer and wanting to brew many more!
