Hi there, apologies if this seems like a daft queston but............
I have a Burco boiler which my mates hop filter will not fit into. Therefore Ive been using a muslim bag to put my hops in during the boil, and typically spend 45 mins squeezing it like a tea-bag to extract the hop oils.
If Im using my hops in this manner do you think that I should use more hops than you guys recommend in the 'recipes section' as presumeably I wont be getting quite as much out of the equivalent weight? Or am I just being neurotic?

hops if you havent got a hop filter
Re: hops if you havent got a hop filter
Does your beer taste like it needs more hops? If so then add more hops, but if it tastes alright then there's really no reason to change things.
Re: hops if you havent got a hop filter
I don' think you need to squeeze it. Just weigh it down with a glass object and tie to side of the burco. The oils will rise out
Re: hops if you havent got a hop filter
my muslin bags died a death after just two boils so i've ditched that approach and am making a hop filter to fit. Ian
