Small hop amounts

Post by DerbyshireNick » Thu Mar 22, 2012 11:01 am

Morning,

Has anyone come up with any genius way (or found a shop) to get hops in smaller amounts.

My issue is I often come across recipies (SNPA) calling for 10g of something... buying in 100g means that ill need to do 10 brews to get through these... thatd about 1 and 1/2 years brewing at my speed!!! I dont think they would hack it in the freezer that long.

Any tips or tricks welcome! Be nice to have some system for selling on hops.

I think that worcester hop shop will make up a recipe pack with the exact amounts of grain hops needed if you drop them a line with the details. I have not done that myself but a few on here have.

Good luck!

There is no point using 10g of hops in any beer. SNPA is about bombarding the wort with cascade.

Yeah it did cross my mind as pointless, might just swap it out.

Properly packaged hops will last a long time in the freezer. I had some amarillo in the freezer five years that made good beer.
I'm just here for the beer.

I was thinking the same, unless you're brewing only a gallon of it? It's about 2.5g/litre hopping rate for late cascade isn't it?
