Picked my EKG today, they were what I had most of. Only got 1 bine from them though, and got 500g of green hops off it. Not too bad for the first year! Still need to cut it back but im looking to upgrade to a much larger pot for next year.

Currently have them in envelopes made of an old net curtain, hanging on a washing line in the shed outside with a fan on. Hopefully will dry out nicely!

Was going to harvest my Primadonna today after a check yesterday, but it's just been chucking it down. Really sticky and fragrant yesterday, hope tomorrow is dry......or could I do it now and just anticipate longer drying time?? Working later today so my window of opportunity is narrow.

I think my Cascade is almost ready. There's lots of yellow stuff in them and they smell wonderful. It's just a shame that the snails ate so much of it before it had a chance to get going properly. Little gastropod bastards. Next year I'm going to make sure they can't get to it.

I was extremely lucky that my hops weren't plagued by pests of any description. I went ahead and harvested them a little while after my posting above, and found one baby snail/slug, and one spider web! Got about 350g dried weight and I'm using some in today's brew.

My cascade aren't ripening and I don't know why... The cones are well formed but theres no yellow stuff and no aroma. :( They've been like this for weeks now.

Anyone else have a particularly good harvest this year? Last year I used pillow cases to harvest, this year it was a full bed-sheet. Up past midnight last night filling newspaper pockets and stripping out leaves. No time to weigh the total, but my airing cupboard is groaning.

I've no idea what would be considered good from one plant, but I'm well pleased with the 350g I got from the first crop from the single rhizome BarnsleyBrewer (eyup John!) gave me late last year.At my old drum I had a well established Hallertau and it never performed as good as this. Brewed yesterday with my new hops and it smells totally sublime. Can't wait...

Here's my harvest:

87 pitiful grams. Poor plant. I knackered about 1/3rd of the stringy things by dropping a gazebo on it. Then the snails at at least 3/4 of the remaining leaves. Bastards. Oh well. Hopefully we'll have moved somewhere with a more suitable garden for next year and I'll be able to give her a proper climbing frame.

I'm quite amazed at my EKG, over about 2 weeks i harvested 2.13kg of wet hops

I got them all dried down to 390g.

I celebrated by making 50l of beer and splitting the batch 50/50, i steeped 50g in one and pitched Thames Valley 2, the other batch i steeped 150g and pitched US-05.

Yum :D
