Dwarf Hilary hops?

Post by seymour » Mon Mar 25, 2013 7:44 pm

Do any of you guys know about Dwarf Hilary hops? I can't find any information at all, except they are used as a bittering variety in Millstone Autumn Leaves Bitter and Bank Top Old Slapper. Have you guys tasted either of those ales?

What are Hilary hops like? Are they brand-new? Still in field trials? Were they bred from First Gold? What is their alpha acid percentage? Are they available for purchase?

So many questions and still no answer! :?
There have been several new ones come up lately all with girls names. I assume these are of the same breeding program. I have asked a friend who should be in the know, hopefully he will come back with some info in the next day or 2.
cheers

Cool, thanks! If ol' Scupples hasn't heard of 'em either, I don't feel so bad. :)

timbo41 found a little more:
'Hilary' - mid-high alpha (9-10.5%), spice. Hedge type.
Why aren't we hearing more about this hop which is already being used in commercial beers? You'd think from all the public information that Summit is the only decent bittering hop well-suited to low trellis/hedge growing, and it's not even a true dwarf variety!

What else you Englishmen hidin' over there? C'mon now, lets see those pockets...
