Dry Hopping - T90?

Post by alwilson » Mon Jun 10, 2013 4:32 pm

Evening Guys,

Can I use T90 hops to dry in a cask - I've some plastic pins that I fill for mates and parties, and want to start dry hopping a few of them, especially for a side by side test.

Is T90 hops suitable for this, I dont wan to block the tap, but equally i want something fairly easy to clean up too..

Thoughts?

Cheers
Alex

Yes they will work fine. They break up and form a sediment on the bottom and are easily rinsed away. You may need to use a bit more finings than usual. Also bear in mind that depending on the amount of pellets used, your beer may not clear properly at all. No amount of finings will clear a beer with lots of hop debris.
Another option would be to add the pellets to your pin, leave chilled for a couple of days and then draw off into another pin, effectively brighting the beer.

Can't be arsed to keep changing this bit, so, drinking some beer and wanting to brew many more!

Sir, you are drunk! Yes madam, and you are ugly, but in the morning I shall be sober! - WSC
