Hello all i picked up some white pillow covers 3 for a £1.

I reckon they would make good dry hop bags for my 110 Litre brews allowing plenty of room for mixing with the beer in the secondary. The material looks like white toilet paper but much stronger cotton maybe or cotton nylon mix.

Would i just boil the bag up a bit to sterilise before using it.

I'm always quite dubious about using things like this, I've never really known if any chemicals, bleaches, dyes or whatever else they used to treat the fabrics with would have and effects on the beer.

I reckon it's the insulation the python line is insulated also. I removed the Glycol as it made the water in the reservoir thick & the python stopped pumping it properly. The controller only goes to 5 oc but i think it would take it right down to 1oc if i wanted to. Fermenting in a cool box or one of them ss thermo box things would do the trick. It would be a good setup for someone wanting to brew lagers in the summer.

I have just moved it from the primary to the conditioning tank using my RG550 pump as i need the primary for another brew tomorrow. It's a beast of a pump & i can't help introducing a little air in the transfer. Will the yeast that's still in suspension mop it up or would i be better adding a camden tablet.

Its because i decided to use some of the slurry at the bottom for tomorrow's brew. One of the jubilee clips on the pump isn't tightening right need to buy some spare ones. I now normally use a secondary as i us US 56 yeast & like to transfer it with isinglass to clear it in secondary before kegging.I need a pint as i have just crushed 23 KG of grain.
