Nice old boy, I don't think they get to talk much (order of silence or something like that) except where their work is concerned.
Belgium was very nice, made it to Cantillon, the rest of Brussells and Brouwland.

Didnt go too many places as seemed to loose a lot of time in the local bars
Maybe next time

Nicely done sir, did you by any chance try the bourgone de flandres in Nostre Damme? Pished in Brussels is THE way forward for the discerning cultural tourist, like what we all are. :)

Fatcontroller could you tell me when you harvested your cascade last year, being from the same part of the world i'd imagine mine will be good to go at about the same time as yours, also what size do the hops grow to ie small, medium or large??
Cheers, Delboy.

If it helps, mine are still very small and I'm guessing they could use another few weeks - the cones are about 15mm long or less. My cascade plant was also the last of my 6 varieties to flower.

How are yours looking?

delboy i harvested some of the larger ones on sat and used them green in alate hopped couple of beeers ! so long as there is plenty of lupulin at the bottom of the bracteroles and you are getting plenty of aroma from the hop when you squeeze or crush it it is useable !

Mine run the range from an elongated 40mm right down to little more than burrs most of them though are in the 'round hop' stage if that makes sense and are just beginning to lengthen.

No prob , but try to wait until they are more elongated than round ! but, if they look like they are dry enough when you sqeeze them then they may be ready you have to check to see that the lupulin is plenty full , i suppose its not an exact description !sorry! but try to harvest them before they go too brown !
I have a cascade plant outside that is going from from burrs to roundish hop cones at the min ! whereas i have a smaller cascade in the polytunnel that has roun cones and my main plant is teeming with large elongated cones !
i have pics on my phone whicch i will try to upload asap !
Hope this helps !!!!!!!

I was thinking along the same lines about waiting for the majority of them to extend out, a lot of them are starting to do just that (none of them showing signs of browning yet), i was thinking i might do a partial harvest this weekend and put them wet into a brew on the day, what sort of ratio do you use wet:dry.
Would love to see the photos, i'll try and get a pic of mine up as well, i have to say in stark contrast to the first gold i was growing the cascade seems like they are going to be full of lupin and aroma (the first gold is pure pants, virtually no aroma and v.little in the way of lupin).

2.2KG? Holy crap!

Fwiw, I dried my hops on spread out on newspaper in my spare room upstairs with the window cracked open and they dried perfectly in about 5 days. Might be a little difficult to do that with 2.2KG though!!
