Could I possibly put my name down also? I haven't got anything out of the ordinary myself; Challenger, Goldings and Fuggles.

Got those contact details and will get the plants and sample(just so you know what they are like grown over here, not to be patronising!) out asap once you recieve the plants then credit me with whatever you think they are worth plus postage costs , is that fair enough ?
regards

I'm going to hold off for now, a bit short on cash and I'm on my fourth year of hop farming and still not had a successful crop. Next year i'll get in contact.

I'm also taking the stance that I already have 4 hop plants (3 varieties) that I need to find a permanent spot for and rig up some poles and wires.
So although tempting, I shall not be asking for a cutting :)

got the plants potted up and from last weekend there is good growth so i`m happy to send them off tomorrow , inc will be a small bag of last years harvest, they may not have been packed the best and they have been in my freezer since but, it`ll give you an idea of what can be expected of a uk geown cascade, imho exactly the same if not better, fresh harvested !p.s. the postage on each was 3.25

Hi FC,
I got mine throught the post the other day (that was a lot of gaffer tape :D ) looks good im going to get it in the ground over the weekend, the hop sample you sent are really pungent  everytime i open the cupboard they are in i get hit with a wall of cascadeyness :D i seem to detect an orangeyness to them also, does that transfer into the beer??

Anyway PM me with your paypal account name and i'll send on some money :D

hi del , glad they arrived safe, aye there was a lot of tape but didnt know how long it would take to deliver and i didnt want it to dry too much cause they have already started growing. I think you could be right about the aroma , but ill have to let you know next week when in back drinking , i have a couple of cascade pale ale s ready for drinking ! One has pilgrim as a copper hop and has been bottled since nov and one has been barrel'd a couple of weeks where by each hop addition was equal quantities of cascade and bram x so am looking forward to giving them a go , will be looking for the orange ! But from memory they defo have citrus and plenty of it !

fatcontro11er wrote:hi lost dont know if this still applies but i made enquiries a couple of years ago and was dismayed to find that as others have said it was nearly impossible to import cascade and other american hops ,due to bringing the possible alian spicies/disease with them,(altough as bare/dry roots this is highly unlikely) but after much frustration and some ivestigation i found that if you get a cert/licence from your dept of agriculture/defra etc and it is accompanied with a cert from usda it is possible to get the hops over, there is other ways of getting them sent but i thought it better to go through appropriate channels given as stated the previous `plagues`.
i have had my first `full`growing season in 2009 and used some of the prolific crop to make some cracking beers that are full of the typical cascade flavour/aroma. hopefully i can get a few pics on.!
well worth the effort and expense.
