Tough Hops

Post by Subsonic » Fri Sep 04, 2009 3:31 pm

I just went out on a site visit to an industrial site by the River Thames. All concrete for miles about and not a single tree or plant to see. I surveyed the site and spied an automated weather station. So out of interest I wandered up for a nose. Lo an behold growing up the station was a hop plant complete with hops! Amazing. I picked a couple but they didn't have a lot of aroma still being pretty green. But its incredible that this is the second place around here that is basically a concrete car park andI have found hops growing. They must be left over from the former brewies that were here. I'm gonna crash the car one day what with gawping out the window looking for hops all the time...Subsonic.

My Harvest

Well the hops on the farm here were ready so I went out today. It was hard going but I picked 2 Kilos!!! and hardly put a dent in the amount there are! I might go out again tomorrow, but for today I am going to get them all sorted and spread out in my polytunnel to dry. I must say I couldn;t help sniggering to myself as I picked them! Its gonna save me a fortune!!! Will post a pic of them drying later. Happy Days!!! Subsonic.
