Unknown variety, any ideas?
Unknown variety, any ideas?
Obtained a root a few years ago from my Mother and it 's has developed beautifully. For at least the last two years I have picked it with the intention of starting brewing again but for whatever reason the hops never get used - this year will be different! So it would help a lot with recipe formulation if I could find out what the variety is. Any hop experts here with an idea? Ten or so cones in a mug make a nice hop tea with nice bitterness and a pleasant aromatic note. They look just right to pick tomorrow.

The purple bines suggest Challenger to me
I think Fuggles cones are a little more elongated?

Re: Unknown variety, any ideas?
I think not long enough for fuggles, not long or red bined enough for challenger. Wonder how they're growing? As a 20ft bine or more like a bush variety. Small cones maybe a Golding variety...first gold...cobb...early bird. Or because they look so pretty perhaps an ornimental? I don't know but hope you find out.
