W.V.G HOPS ??????
W.V.G HOPS ??????
Hi everyone i would like to ask you a question on W.G.V hops.My question is this, i use the hop in question in a ale that is in the memorey of my late brother and this ale got on to the pumps at my local micro brewery/pub and it did very very well. I now want to take this ale to the compitions next year but i have one issue. My issue is that i don't like W.G.V hops personally i can't get passed the smell of the hop and i only used this hop in the first place caus there was no East Kent goldings left at my local home brew store, i only used 7 grams of w.g.v in my brew and the rest of the hops in the packet went in the bin caus i never used them and they went off.But now iam re brewing this importent ale i need to buy some more w.g.v for the brew but i don't know what hop i could use to replace w.g.v hop but i don't want to change the flavour one bit caus the flavour was perfect but in the same breath i don't want to buy w.g.v hop to use 7 grams and then chuck out the rest.I have also looked to see if people sell w.g.v loose but no one does. PLEASE HELP
Re: W.V.G HOPS ??????
I would use any Goldings variety. I don't think you would notice the difference with 7 grams, even if it was used late for aroma/taste.
Well done getting your brew on at the pumps, that's the ultimate test for any beer

Are you friends with any other home brewers? If one of them likes W.G.V. you could use what you need and share (sell?) the rest.
I'm just here for the beer.

For the matter of 7g, I have some in the Freezer been opened and used a few times I think they are either 2007 or 2008 crop (I'd have to go look, that might be too old for you), if you don't have any luck getting any closer to home PM me your address and we'll sort something out...
