Bottle Hopping
Recently I have tried adding a cone to the bottle prior to filling, different hops in small numbers of bottles for experiments. In every case it has been worthwhile. Has anyone else tried this? I suppose it is just concentrated, labour intensive dry hopping, but does show what different hops can achieve. Any opinions?

This sounds like a great idea.
Im currently working my way through a few single hop recipes to get an idea of the flavours/aromas.
However with this, i could just do a single small batch, with some bittering hops, and then hop a couple of bottles with all the different hops i want to use.
Is one cone enough to give a decent aroma?
Is the aroma from the dry hopping different to the aroma you would get if you steeped the hops post boil?
Cheers

I find the cone tends to sink and if poured carefully remains there. Not always though! So far I have only done this with single cones and it certainly adds aroma and I believe an element of flavour. I can't be sure but it appears to give a more intense/noticable aroma than post boil steeping, although it was in a beer that had been steeped. I have tried cascade and goldings but nothing more potent yet. Worth experimenting with I reckon.
