Hello, some questions if I may.
Dry hopped a pale with pellets a week ago, put them into secondary and ran off the FV onto them. After a week they still sit on top of the beer like a thick layer of mushy peas. Gave it a decent stir a couple of days ago but don't want to do this too much incase the beer gets oxidised. Shouldn't pellet sink to the bottom? Would fining with gellatine help get them to the bottom? Want to bottle this at the w/end and don't want to get a load of hops in the bottles. I put the FV into the shed last night in the hope that a couple of cold nights would persuede them to sink. Any thoughts?
cheers

Pellet dry hops
Re: Pellet drp hops
I've had this happen many times. It's frustrating. Now when I use pellet hops to dry hop, I place them in a muslin bag weighted down with marbles. All sanitized of course. I've had good luck with that method.

I tie a small hop bag on the end of the racking cane that goes in the carboy.bazza wrote:I've had this happen many times. It's frustrating. Now when I use pellet hops to dry hop, I place them in a muslin bag weighted down with marbles. All sanitized of course. I've had good luck with that method.
I'm just here for the beer.
