Hop "Tea bags"

Post by Glug » Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:39 pm

The bag of hops that's supplied with the Brupack kits can be used to give a more bitter flavour with a long boil and added to the wort. To increase flavour with a short boil, or added to the secondary fermenter/barrel to give a hop aroma.

If the bag has been initially boiled to add bitterness or flavour can it also be kept and added to to the fermenter for aroma, or is considered used ?

i wouldnt, it'll probably grow mouldly in the time between you using it. plus the flavour\aroma will have been sucked out in the boil.

you'd be better buying some hops if you want to do both. they keep for ages in the fridge, so its not as if they'll go off befor eyou can use them all. :D
