Hop stocks

Post by quixoticgeek » Wed Oct 17, 2012 2:39 pm

I am trying to track down some hops (ideally as pellets), but I am struggling to find them anywhere in stock. Am I too early for the 2012 harvest but too late for the 2011?

The main hops I am struggling with are Amarillo and Citra ?

Who has stock left?

2 of the most popular American hops going. You will have to wait for this years harvest now as they sold out a while ago, unless someone on here is willing to trade (unlikely). I am 99% certain you will not find them pelletised either, they only tend to do that to hops grown in larger quantities. This years harvest should be hitting the UK very shortly.

Have you tried Hop & Grape. They are listing 2011 Citra.

Yesterday at my LHBS I was told that amarillo is already sold out for the year. If you find a shop that has them you should get all you'll need for the year.
I'm just here for the beer.

If you order with other hops it makes financial sense and its all pellets.

I have had a 2x4lbs from them in the past with no issues.

Bear in mind that you may get charged Import Duty before you can receive your delivery.

I went back and got some simcoe which is expected to fall short of demand this season.
Other hops to try are glacier, summit, sorachi ace, saphir, ahtanum. I made a great tasting amber ale a few months ago using saphir, simcoe and summit. Next spring I'm doing an IPA with warrior for bittering and a glacier-ahtanum combo the rest of the way.
I'm just here for the beer.

I was in on Saturday and I spotted Citra if that helps?

You could always try some of those "inferior" English hops! Just done a test brew with Pilgrim and its bloody lovely. :D
They are also one of the cheapest out there for some reason.
