A while back i dry hopped a scottish export with a slack handful of Marynka hops placed into a muslin bag, this was then kegged into my king keg top tap and left to condition.
I now have to draw off a pint before i drink it as it tastes soo bitter its undrinkable, however its only the first pint, the subsequent pints are fine.
The hop bag wasnt weighted, so i think that it may be near the surface where the top tap float is and the first pint draws off an over hopped liquid i think, has anyone else had any experience of this sort of problem?
should i be weighting my hop bag if using a top tap floaty thing?

No No only 110 Litres i used 125g of Styrian Goldings & 125g of Challenger. And being a frugal scotsman and don't use King Kegs anymore it cost nothing to make.oxford brewer wrote:but he is doing 200l batchesDaaB wrote:Most homebrewers use a 1L jar for a hop back, Rab has to use a 26L King Keg his batches are so big...wonder what weight of hops go into the hopback?
