So you can imagine my excitement last August when I found a hop growing on the edge of Hononton Farm. As legend goes this is the very farm where Mr Fuggles found his famous variety.
It was methodically checked every few days by me, to ascertain the optimum moment to be picked. So come the second week in September it was and then air dried and perfectly stored. That was until 2 weeks ago when the still fine looking cones went in a single hop brew.
Well I have just bottled it and first sneaky tastes are promising. The most interesting aspects of this hop are that I couldn't find any signs of disease. I know there are several wild hops that are very resistant to all sorts of things, but when put in a commercial environment they all fall down. But just what if.

Only time will tell with this one, I may just have found the holy grail of a Fuggles replacement.

Patience will prevail this time to make sure its conditioned and at optimum temperature for sampling.
